About the Artist: Bruce Marion
Bruce Marion is a contemporary Impressionist known for his landscapes, cityscapes, figurative works, and wildlife. His use of rich color and dramatic lighting creates paintings with a distinctive, glowing quality, as if illuminated from within. Marion achieves this effect through multiple layers of paint, applied with palette knives, brushes, and unconventional tools like drywall scrapers and squirt bottles, resulting in surfaces with tremendous depth.
Marion’s art is driven by a desire to evoke feelings and sensations that resonate deeply with the viewer. He believes that art is an interactive, experiential medium that touches us on a personal, primitive level. In his wildlife series, Marion captures both the modern energy and the historical significance of each animal, acknowledging their strength, presence, and the profound lineage that transcends human time.
A classically trained artist, Marion earned his BFA from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 1978, After teaching at the Otis Parsons Institute of Art in Los Angeles, he relocated to Arizona in 2000.
