Pink Ocotillo at Pusch Ridge- This is one of those magical paintings where everything goes right. Some paintings I work and rework to get just the right mood or light or shadow, but when everything goes right from the beginning, it feels like the painting almost paints itself.

I do not decide my color palette before I begin the piece, and let that be my creative, intuitive journey. That’s the fun for me! I painted Pink Ocotillo mostly with a palette knife which added the dimensions of sharp edges and large blocks of color. The dusty rose in the peaks adjacent to the green patches in the mountain and the colorful flowers at the base make this painting a plethora of color and joy.
