Fly Me to the Moon– The first painting in this series of “Spirit Animals” flowed quickly and easily. Unlike my usual process, I did not start by drawing the coyote on the paper before adding color, but let him gradually emerge as I worked. Color moved across the slick and nonabsorbent surface of the Yupo paper and this beautiful creature with long legs began to appear. I didn’t plan for his legs to be extra-long, but I liked them, so left them that way. The coyote’s symbolism is associated with the deep magic of life and creation.
